Test Process

Sample collection is straightforward – the BQT® analyzer requires just a 2mm clipping from the patient’s big toenail, which will then be mailed to a reference lab for analysis. The nature of nail samples is such that there are no elaborate requirements for transport such as refrigeration.

Our high-throughput, fully-automated instrument places minimal demands on lab staff:

    1. A 2mm nail clipping is loaded into the BQT® analyzer, and a Raman spectra is obtained
    2. A proprietary regulatory compliant algorithm generates the BQT® score from the Raman spectra. A second proprietary regulatory compliant algorithm then takes the patient’s BQT® score and Clinical Risk Factor’s and produces a % risk of fracture at 5, 10, 15 and 20 year time points
    3. A test report is generated which provides the clinician with relevant % hip fracture risk data and graph, compliant with clinical guidelines
